Texas EquuSearch made the
call... |
Texas EquuSearch is known world-wide for their
efforts in the field of Search and Rescue/Recovery. RPFlightsystems was
contacted by them to assist in searching for a man who had been missing for over
four and a half months. A suicide note was recovered two months into the
disappearance, but local law enforcement was unable to substantiate that suicide
was a factor, because they still had not recovered a body. Enter RPFS.

Body of missing person located
in Monahans Texas October 2005 |
RPFS personnel arrived in the
area and established contact and coordination with EquuSearch, and a flight plan
was formulated. Two initial flight missions were completed, and a total of
200 photographs were taken in areas of interest.
Everyone involved in the search began poring over
the photographs for possible targets. RPFS personnel located several
possibilities, and mapped out a revised search flight plan to commence the
following day. The initial search found the targets and they were
methodically cleared in approximately one hour.
The one single photo with what appeared to be a tennis shoe, was used to key in
on another search area. After a very short ground search of the area, identified
by GPS tags on the photos below, a body was discovered which appeared to fit the
description of the missing subject. Total time on location was less than
24 hours. The photo on the far left provided a potential target,
which is highlighted in the middle photo. The photo on the far right shows
the ground search crew converging on the target, positively identifying it as
human remains, which were later identified as belonging to the missing victim.
